Article I: Name and Purpose:
1.Name: The name of the association shall be the Longfellow Litter Free Neighborhood Association (LLFNA).
2.Purpose: The purpose of this association is to beautify local areas, enhance safety, and protect the environment through litter removal in the Longfellow neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
3.Status: The association is an unincorporated association organized exclusively for charitable/community benefit purposes. It is not organized for profit.
Article II: Membership:
1.Membership: Membership is open to any individual or family who supports the purpose of the Association and agrees to abide by the safety guidelines.
2.Participation: Active members are expected to sign up for and participate in at least 2 clean up events yearly or contribute towards the organization's goals.
3.Voluntary Basis: Participation is strictly voluntary. No member for the season of 2026 shall be paid for their services.
Article III: Safety and Operations
1.Safety First: The safety of volunteers is paramount. All volunteers (members) must wear the provided customized safety vests with nametags.
2.Guidelines: Participants must follow all guidelines, including facing traffic while working, avoiding overexertion, and only having the team lead handle hazardous materials.
3.Age Requirement: Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian. Volunteers for Hiawatha Avenue must all be above 18.
4.Reporting: The Association will record and report the hours, along with the number of bags collected for the clean-up events as required.
Article IV: Meetings and Leadership
1.Coordination: The Association shall have a designated coordinator/representative to serve as the main contact for local government partners.
2.Meetings: The association shall meet on the third Sunday of the month at 2:00 p.m. at 2824 S 31st. Ave., Apt 1. A reminder notice with the meeting agenda will be emailed to all members 2 days before the meeting.
3.Decisions: Decisions will be made by consensus of the members present at the meetings. The organizer will cast their vote if there is an odd number of members present and won't cast their vote if there is an even number of members present.
Article V: Financial Policies
1.Funds: LLFNA may accept donations or grants for the purchase of supplies and other operational costs of the Association. Excess money donated will be allowed to accumulate until the end of November 2026 when it will be decided in the December 2026 meeting if it is possible to fund a paid coordinator/manager/team lead for the year of 2027.
2.Handling: All funds shall be used solely for the purpose of the Association.
3.Dissolution: Upon dissolution of the Association any remaining funds shall be donated to a similar local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that does community clean-ups (Longfellow Community Council) or the local municipal sanitation department.
Article VI: Amendments
These bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the members present at any properly notified meeting.
